Accounting for Artists

A few of my friends and clients are musicians, photographers, or other artistic professionals. Besides being artists, they’re also business owners who need to understand budgeting, finance and accounting. Recently, I discovered a helpful service for them called The Accountable Artist.

About The Accountable Artist

Aaron Clift runs The Accountable Artist. Besides being a musician, he has been working professionally in various accounting jobs since 2003.  Accounting is a skill that every business owner needs to know, but it's one that few creative professionals ever learn. Aaron understands every aspect of accounting but also speaks their same language, so other musicians frequently go to him with questions about accounting and running a business.

He founded The Accountable Artist in 2019 with the goal of helping artists understand business accounting.  He does this with two services: 1-on-1 training and online accounting courses.  Each helps artists learn everything they need to know about accounting so they can end their struggling artist life and build a sustainable, thriving career.

He has coached several artists who have had a much easier time running their businesses thanks to his teaching.  One student told him that his lessons helped her finally get her business off the ground; another told him that his advice saved thousands of dollars that would’ve otherwise been spent on accounting services year after year.
